LOCKSPatrick ScottTheo KatsaounisAfter singlehandedly winning "Operation Dessert Storm" for Soviet England these two guys not from quebec or germany asked of themselves "What better to do with our time than make funny noises with some electronic and acoustic/electro-acoustic stuff?" The answer was a resounding "Whuh?" However, after that person was shot through the heart by a disgruntled Bon Jovi fan Theo and Patrick decided to throw a bunch of songs up in the air and see what happened as they fell. The fact that these things are still fluttering to the ground is testament not only to their throwing arms but their complete and utter fascination with both Don Cheadle (his later satanic period) and the films of Steve Sayadian. Now the question is not "What have we learned?" but more "Who reads band bios anyway?" thanks, see you at a show? TIRRA LIRRAChris MathisJared SheldonTony JanasBrian Hank HenryThe musical climate we currently reside in is over saturated and stagnant. Bands are being started to adhere to the rules of a genre, not the creativity of it's makers. The city of Chicago has a notorious abundance of musicians not content to follow any preset paths, TIRRA LIRRA contains four of them. Molding traditional rock instruments like guitar and drums with experimenter's tools such as modular synthesizers and samplers, this quartet of noisemakers blend pounding rhythms, slurred, echoed vocals, electronic tone sculpting, and guitars like a fever dream with a sharp sense of melody to create a music that has a warm, organic nature with a cold, dark spine. While forging new sounding music is ever necessary, TIRRA LIRRA also posses a strong understanding of the past and their roots. From psych-rock, to punk, and even flirtations with the darker side of post-punk and primitive industrial music, TIRRA LIRRA has crafted a sound that is challenging and innovative as well as satisfying and familiar. A TUNDRAD Francis MahlmeisterShelly SteffensTim O'DonnellTheo KatsaounisIn theory, A Tundra plays rock and roll music. The rock is usually there, but the roll sometimes gets tossed out in favor of cascading walls of rhythm and clusters of tones. The rock that’s left is jagged and interjective, abrupt and ominous, but once in a while even that is turned over to reveal the warm, all-encompassing earth beneath it. At its heart, A Tundra really just yearns to make rock in the classic sense, teeming with rawness, energy and self-importance. Their vocabulary doesn't always appear like it comes from the classic realm, but if you dig deep into their misshapen music, you'll realize it does. They're not re-inventing rock, they're just disorganizing it. Releases:Released October 23rd, 2007, the debut full length CD entitled: ssr010-"Man or Woman, Laughing or Crying."More Info: |
